Thanksgiving on our Island Farm

The beauty of the sea, the salt air, the laughter-these are definitely a few of my favorite things.

A short walk takes us to one our beautiful beaches.

It is Canadian thanksgiving, and although it may seem like there isn’t much to celebrate, we can always find something to be thankful for.

My little grandson-the wizard

We took a beautiful fall walk this morning and I just had to capture some of the beauty of the coast of our little island, which is located on the very southwest tip of Nova Scotia.

This rugged landscape is where we have our one acre homestead. Our other location is about 30 minutes away on the farm where I grew up.

Piping plovers are one of our most beautiful beach birds.
So much room on our beaches for little ones to run. We often are the only ones here.
A bouquet of marsh flowers will dry beautifully to last the winter
Miles and miles of sand beaches make up this side of our island
Everyone heading out in their pajamas after thanksgiving breakfast.
Only very special treasures ever make it back with us-An unusual piece of sea glass, a unique piece of driftwood, a pretty rock.

I can’t imagine not living near the water. The salt air, the freedom, the beauty and simplicity it brings to our lives is constant, can always be counted on, and are things to be thankful for.

Happy thanksgiving,

Jenn xx
