30 Days of Zucchini: Homemade Dog Food

Those eyes put a lot of pressure on you to serve it up fast.

I have done a lot of research into making our own dog food. But basically I use the “thirds” rule : a third brown organic rice, a third egg and veg, and a third pasture raised or wild meat.

You can find more on that journey here in this blog post:

One of the vegetables I love to use is shredded zucchini. It mixes in well and the dogs just gobble it up. I usually freeze it in two cup bags and adjust the amount as needed.

I shred with the seeds in it as squash seeds are known to have anti parasitic properties as well as being nutritious.

Happy healthy dogs equals a happy life !
